MARKETS

BIG PINEAPPLE, http://www.bigpineapple.com.au/

Every Saturday, 6.30am - 1pm. The Big Pineapple Market is one of the biggest all weather markets on the Sunshine Coast. It’s a blossoming and dynamic place pulsating with life. The fair competition between stall holders and their care for customers is what gives the Market charm and the draw card for thousands of people to visit each year.

The lively atmosphere of this iconic tourist attraction has endeared the market to locals for only 2 years; however it continues to grow every week with more and more people wanting to      build their businesses by promoting themselves at The Big Pineapple. The market is best known for its huge variety of fresh and local produce. Virtually 50% of the area is dedicated to the sale of fresh produce, including fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, chicken, seafood and delicatessen products. The remainder of the market is used for variety and specialty goods, with mid- morning being the most popular time for this category.

The Market also offers the original cane train which gives mum time for a coffee and the kids a ride on the train. A photo opportunity is available on the observation deck on top of the pineapple where hundreds of people take photos of their time at the Big Pineapple every year.  So why not indulge in some of the finest, handcrafted foods available, unwind and make a day to join us at The Big Pineapple markets…..there’s something for everyone!

Located in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival has been a feature event on the Australian Triathlon Calendar for over 22 years.

SWIM BIKE RUN PARTY
Mooloolaba triathlon stages a course that is famous for its ocean swim along with the electric buzz in the atmosphere as thousands of triathletes descend on this popular beach town. It's perfect for first timer and seasoned triathletes.

There is something for the whole family including the ASICS Mooloolaba Twilight 5km run, 1k Ocean Swim, Superkidz Triathlon and the Special Tri. The event also features the Mooloolaba ITU Triathlon World Cup, where participants will see some of the biggest names in triathlon swimming the same waters, cycling the same roads, and pounding the same pavement as their own course.

The marquee event moves to Australia's gorgeous Sunshine Coast.

The IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship was created in 2006 and held in Clearwater, Florida until 2011. It then moved to Henderson, Nevada, where athletes were treated to a much more challenging course. In 2014, the event took place in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec—its first stop on the new "global rotation" for the championship. 2015 put the event on European soil for the first time ever, with Zell am See, Austria, hosting an epic and memorable event.

More than 1,800 athletes from around the world (who qualified at another IRONMAN 70.3 event) will compete at this prestigious race. More than 130,000 athletes participate in a season of qualifying races for the championship, a series which consists of over 85 events in locations such as Australia, Germany, South Africa and Switzerland. Participants in the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship will range in age from 18 to 70-plus, and will represent over 50 countries.

IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship 2016

Perfectly located in the heart of Queensland's Sunshine Coast, Mooloolaba Beach offers the perfect year-round climate and is an ideal location for a sporting event, a relaxing family vacation or just a great place to escape to. The relaxing atmosphere of the Sunshine Coast, the friendly people and the endless scenic beauty of Mooloolaba Beach make it a hugely popular destination to visit.

Competitors will take in the best that Mooloolaba has to offer, starting with a swim at Mooloolaba’s spectacular surf beach. The ocean swim consists of a one-lap course following a counter-clockwise direction. The bike course will be a challenging one lap route incorporating a flat and fast section on the Sunshine Motorway prior to an undulating lap through the hinterland.

From transition, runners will head north and onto the iconic Mooloolaba Esplanade. After heading over the scenic Alexandra Headland hill, athletes will continue to Cotton Tree via Sixth Avenue and Alexandra. Athletes will follow the same route for the second lap along striking shores and a spectator-lined course before finishing in the heart of Mooloolaba.
