White Picket Fence

This place is one of Caloundra’s best. In the heart of town and right around the corner from Bulcock Beach, White Picket Fence is dearly treasured by many locals. Parisian parasols meets Mediterranean masonry, your senses are totally delighted before you even sit down to smell the coffee!

Local business owners Adam and Caity built this place from a dream after working many years in the hospitality industry. They provide a selection of locally sourced ingredients on the menu and their coffee beans come from a local Brisbane roaster called The Cat’s Pyjamas. You can also buy a bag of beans to take with you which is a total bonus! And did we mention they’re pooch friendly?

You’ll love the dine in atmosphere here. It’s reminiscent of old-world charm yet enhanced with all the modern finishes you could ask for – totally worthy of the ‘gram, and the quality of coffee + food will leave you satisfied too!

The Velo Project

If you love to spend your days in and out of bric-a-brac stores and thrift shopping, you will LOVE The Velo Project. There’s odd chairs decorating the walls, dial-up telephones, mismatched vases and all sorts of odd things in corners for you to find. Along with a mis-matched aesthetic, they also sell homemade honey, sustainable straws, glazed ceramic coffee cups and delightful cards for your family and friends back home.

They source their beans from Kai Coffee, a super popular bean here on the Sunshine Coast which is roasted only a few suburbs away in Warana. They support local farmers and suppliers and source in their food produce too and the menu is modern and so tasty! The feel of The Velo Project is a love for the environment, with thought-out recyclables and a value for up-cycled furniture. And as an added bonus feature, they have a fully dine-able outdoor garden area as-well! Located only a street back from Alexandra Headland, it’s worth a visit here.

Malarkey Artisan Coffee

You’d be forgiven for thinking that this was just somebody’s home that they’ve turned into a make-shift business. From the outside, it seems more house than café, but as soon you step under their green-leafed archway you are transported into a quaint and magical garden terrace that oozes cottage holiday charm.

The selection of sweet treats are ALL handmade and the coffee is always on point here, brewing with local roasters Guru Life beans from Rosemount. If you miss the comforts of Nana’s cottage back home, this café will warm your heart and your belly as you relax and enjoy the day. Nestled in the backstreets of Caloundra, this is a real gem for the locals and for you!

Urban Garden

This beauty is set inside the historic, Old Courthouse in Maroochydore. Urban Garden has been fitted with a modern, industrial aesthetic which works synergistically with the buildings’ original exterior. Trendy, sleek, sophisticated – Urban Garden boasts of new feel on old ground. They use their own houseblend of coffee beans as well as sourcing locally roasted beans from around the coast along with hand selected treats and delectables. There is also a variety of food vans that park-up next to the building almost every day, so you can grab your lunch snack fresh off the truck while you’re there!

The Columbian Coffee Co

If you’re looking for that authentic, coffee producing feel, look no further than The Columbian Coffee Co in Mooloolaba. Birthed in 2015 by a couple who moved to Australia from their native Columbia, the unique taste of coffee from home country never left their hearts and became the inspiration behind their successful business. Ethically sourced beans are roasted in their own roastery and deliver a smooth tasting coffee into your hands. A little slice of South America here on the Sunshine Coast!

Honourable Mention – Caloundra Laneway

Tucked away in a cobbled laneway just off the main hub of Caloundra city, there are a couple of coffee vendors to choose from. Choose from Lamkin Lane Espresso Bar, Mr Z & Co and Greenhouse Café, the lively, street-style dining will excite while food vans are often making the stop in the courtyard spaces between the buildings here too!
