SO PHRESH at Blackflag Mooloolaba

If you are already in Mooloolaba on Thursday night, there is no need to travel far for live entertainment. Blackflag’s SO PHRESH night is built around late-1990s and 2000s nostalgia, with Phil & The Blanks, DJ Miss L.C., Harlum and Uncle Steven on the program.

Blackflag is tucked down a laneway off Brisbane Road, only a short walk from the Esplanade, making this one of the easiest live-music options of the week for guests staying centrally.

Noosa Jazz Festival Continues

The Noosa Jazz Festival is in its closing stages this week. Thursday’s Stevenson’s Rockets performance in Noosa Junction is listed as sold out, which is worth knowing before making the drive north. The remaining festival program continues through Sunday, with the biggest opportunities for visitors occurring on Saturday and Sunday.

Cotton Tree Twilight Markets

Only a short drive from Mooloolaba, the Cotton Tree Twilight Markets are an easy way to begin Friday evening. Expect artisan stalls, food trucks, live music and a relaxed riverside atmosphere.

The markets support Bloomhill Cancer Care and are particularly good for visitors looking for an informal dinner option rather than a conventional restaurant booking.

Eumundi Writers Festival

Where: Venues around Eumundi

The 2026 Eumundi Writers Festival explores the theme of the human condition, bringing authors, readers, illustrators, publishers and emerging writers together for three days of discussion and events.

The official opening party is scheduled at Berkelouw Books on Friday from 5:30pm to 7:00pm, while the wider program continues throughout Saturday and Sunday.

If you are interested in books, writing and ideas, this is one of the strongest cultural events on the Coast this weekend. Saturday visitors can also combine the festival with The Original Eumundi Markets.

Pseudo Echo – Take Me to Funky Town Tour

Australian synth-pop favourites Pseudo Echo bring their Take Me to Funky Town Tour to Caloundra West on Friday night, featuring a six-piece live line-up and a set built around the band’s catalogue and unmistakable 1980s sound.

The Lark

Noni Hazlehurst takes centre stage in The Lark, a 75-minute theatrical production touring nationally after its Melbourne premiere. There are three Sunshine Coast performances across Friday and Saturday.

Elvis: An American Trilogy

Three Elvis tribute performers recreate different periods of Elvis Presley’s career in this large-scale touring production. The show runs for approximately two hours and ten minutes including interval, with adult A Reserve tickets currently listed from $69.90.

Saturday 5 September: The Biggest Day of the Week

Saturday is easily the busiest day of this seven-day period. If you are staying in Mooloolaba, you could fill the entire day without leaving the suburb, while dozens of additional events are taking place across the Sunshine Coast.

Nurture Festival – Mooloolaba Foreshore

Nurture Festival celebrates its fifth birthday in 2026 with a free, alcohol-free and family-friendly festival centred on youth wellbeing and community connection.

The program includes beach activities, live music from the Eumundi School of Music, youth speakers and panels, immersive activities, an obstacle course and participation from more than 30 community groups.

The Original Eumundi Markets

One of the Sunshine Coast’s best-known markets brings together locally made art, fashion, jewellery, homewares, produce, food and live entertainment.

With the Eumundi Writers Festival happening at the same time, Saturday is an especially good day to make the trip to Eumundi.

Collectorama Giant Antiques, Vintage & Collectables Fair

Collectorama brings around 150 traders together for a giant treasure hunt through vintage items, antiques, memorabilia, jewellery, ceramics, records, books and collectables. Parking is free.

Doggo Day Out

Travelling with your dog? This one is unusually holiday-friendly. Doggo Day Out features sausage-dog races, fashions on the field, a dog play zone, pet markets, raffles, live acoustic music, food trucks and fundraising for Smart Pups.

Great Quota Park Playdate

Families heading towards Nambour can also visit the Great Quota Park Playdate, which includes arts and crafts, a skate clinic, games, yoga, face painting, storytime, music and drumming.

Sunshine Coast Youth Orchestra Gala Concert

The Sunshine Coast Youth Orchestra’s annual gala brings its ensembles together in one concert, ranging from developing young musicians through to advanced orchestral performers.

Sunny Side Up Music Festival

Sunny Side Up returns with three stages of electronic, house, bass and festival music. The line-up includes Hot Dub Time Machine, Pendulum DJ Set, What So Not, Anna Lunoe, Habstrakt, Latifa Tee and more than 20 local artists.

The previous edition sold out, so this is one event where buying tickets before heading out is advisable.

Mooloolaba Sunsets Market

As Nurture Festival winds down, Mooloolaba moves almost directly into its evening program.

The Mooloolaba Sunsets Market brings food trucks, artisan stalls and a relaxed beachside atmosphere to Beach Terrace. Grab dinner, browse the stalls and make an evening of it beside the ocean.

For visitors staying locally, the combination of Nurture Festival during the day and the Sunset Market in the evening creates one of the easiest full days of entertainment you could ask for.

Noosa Jazz Party

The traditional Jazz Party brings the Noosa Jazz Festival musicians together in changing ensembles for the final major ticketed concert of the festival.

Arj Barker – The Classics

Comedy favourite Arj Barker is performing right in Mooloolaba on Saturday night, revisiting favourite material from his years of touring Australia.

The official tour listing currently labels the Mooloolaba performance as selling fast, so this is one to book rather than leaving until Saturday afternoon.

Sunday 6 September: Father’s Day on the Sunshine Coast

Sunday 6 September is Father’s Day in Australia. Expect popular breakfast venues, lunch spots and attractions to be noticeably busier than on a normal Sunday, particularly around Mooloolaba and the main coastal suburbs.

Fishermans Road Markets

Operated by the Mooloolaba Lions Club, Fishermans Road is one of the Coast’s largest Sunday markets, with produce, plants, food, clothing, collectables and second-hand finds.

Cotton Tree Markets

Combine local craft, produce and food stalls with a walk beside the Maroochy River or breakfast around Cotton Tree.

Peregian Beach Markets

Held on the first and third Sunday of each month, Peregian Beach Markets focus on locally designed, recycled, handmade and home-grown products, accompanied by live music.

Buderim Fairy Festival

Monday 7 September: Enjoy Mooloolaba at a Slower Pace

After an exceptionally busy weekend, Monday provides a good opportunity to enjoy the reason you came to Mooloolaba in the first place.

Walk from Mooloolaba towards Alexandra Headland, have breakfast on the Esplanade, visit The Wharf, spend time on Mooloolaba Beach or book one of the local ocean experiences.

SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast

Located at The Wharf Mooloolaba, SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast is an easy family activity without leaving the precinct. The aquarium includes marine-life exhibits and behind-the-scenes experiences and is particularly useful if you want a break from the beach.

Whale Watching: One of September’s Best Mooloolaba Experiences

September is prime humpback whale season off the Sunshine Coast.

Sunreef Mooloolaba operates whale-watching trips from The Wharf during the annual migration. The company describes August and September as a crossover period when whales may be travelling both north and south, before the migration becomes predominantly southbound later in spring.

Possible behaviours include breaching, tail slapping, spy hopping and whales travelling with calves, although these are wild animals and individual encounters can never be predicted.

For visitors staying in Mooloolaba, the big advantage is convenience: the boats leave from The Wharf, rather than requiring a long drive to another departure point.

Pacific Lutheran College presents a 90-minute all-ages dance production following two sisters on a journey around the world, with performances inspired by the music and traditions of different destinations.

This gentle 45-minute interactive theatre experience has been designed specifically for babies, infants and toddlers. The venue provides pram parking and baby-changing facilities.

Planning Your Weekend from Mooloolaba

Saturday will be the busiest day. Nurture Festival occupies the foreshore from 11:00am to 4:00pm, the Mooloolaba Sunsets Market begins at 5:00pm, live music is happening at Blackflag and Arj Barker performs at The Wharf later that evening. Allow more time than usual for parking or, if you are staying centrally, leave the car at your accommodation and walk.

Book Father’s Day dining early. Sunday is Father’s Day and popular beachfront restaurants are likely to be heavily booked.

Book ticketed Saturday events rather than relying on the door. Arj Barker is already listed as selling fast and previous Sunny Side Up events have sold out.

Keep Wednesday morning in mind for Eumundi. Visitors who find Saturday too busy can experience the markets again on Wednesday.
